Children's Services Director

Salary: $36,990


  • Advocate and increase the provision of comprehensive inclusive programs for children with special needs and or high risk and their families in the inner city and suburban communities to include but not limited to Early Intervention Services, Recreational, Educational and Socialization Support Services; as well as, Family Support Services.
  • Coordinate any necessary communication and information between the Kennedy Center and other in-house departments; as well as other community agencies regarding children with special needs and or high risk and their families.
  • Conduct needs assessments, investigate new funding sources and develop and submit grant proposals.
  • Ensure full compliance with the administrative, programmatic and budgeting requirements of all programs in Children’s Services Department.
  • Network with a wide variety of governmental and community agencies to develop new community sites for programming and to increase community awareness.
  • Coordinate communications between family, staff and other agency personnel in the community regarding children and their programming.
  • Participate on state-wide as well as local intra-agency networks and committees concerned with children's issues.
  • Present programs and training at appropriate community forums as well as in-services to increase awareness of the program.
  • Coordinate contracts with outside agencies in regard to after school/summer programs, trainings, parent/child groups, etc.
Hours: 37.5 hours
Monday through Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Flexibility with evenings and Saturday hours


  • Bachelors Degree in Special Education, Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
  • Masters Degree preferred.
  • Applicable certification or licensure required.
  • Four years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Two years experience with children with special needs ages birth to 21.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse high risk populations preferred.
  • You are required to be in possession of a car on site during your entire shift to transport yourself and/or consumers to community sites in all weather conditions and throughout all neighborhoods.
  • Must maintain CPI, CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Knowledge and skills in Word, Excel and the internet.
  • Work a flexible schedule that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
