Training SeminarsTraining Seminars at the Kennedy Center

A. Crisis Prevention and Intervention – participants will learn:

  • What is a crisis? – Stages of a crisis are explored and intervention techniques discussed for each stage
  • Awareness – Learn the importance self-awareness, awareness of the child and awareness of the environment
  • Communication – Learn how to communicate in a potential crisis including de-escalation techniques, problem solving skills and steps to conflict resolution.
  • The Crisis Cycle – Understanding the cyclical and predictable nature of crisis and breaking the cycle
  • Recovery – how to restore equilibrium to both the child and the group following a crisis. Learn how to conduct a life-space interview
  • Half-day through three day trainings available

B. Site-Specific Curriculum - Uniquely tailored curriculum to meet the individual needs of the school / program– topics include:

  • Autism, PDD spectrum
  • Mental Retardation
  • Other DSM IV diagnoses (ADHD, Personality disorders, anxiety disorders, etc.)
  • Disciplinary policies
  • Peer mediation
  • Normative culture (Creating an environment where pro-social values are supported by the students)
  • Self protection
  • Physical intervention
