What We Do

Project PACE

The Kennedy Center, Connecticut, Community Experience

Project PACE, located in Milford, specializes in opportunities for individuals with a diagnosis of Autism/Intellectual Disability. The site is tailored to meet the individual needs of each person on the autism spectrum with the primary goal of creating flexibility within a structured environment. Staffing is very specific to the needs of each person.

Daily programming begins with a morning meeting to go over and prepare for each day’s activities. Included daily are small and large motor activities/exercise, arts and crafts, sensory stimulation, music, computer activities and cooking. Staying fit and active at the on-site gym is part of the program's physical fitness initiative. A wide scale use of visual aids enhances comprehension and communication skills. Also available are weekly activities such as yoga, music and art classes provided by The Kennedy Center Therapeutic Arts Facilitator, reading and science groups, and community-based volunteer opportunities.
