The Kennedy Collective Community Residential Supports provide individuals with disabilities the fulfillment of living and participating in an active community. In each of The Kennedy Collective residential communities, residents receive the extensive, round-the-clock support and guidance that families aren’t always able to provide. With the familial bond of peers and staff residing in an inclusive environment, residents are empowered to develop their social, self-help, and independent living skills.

Licensed CLAs

All of The Kennedy Collective Community Living Arrangements (CLAs) – or group homes – are supported by 24/7 staff who are specially trained to provide nursing and behavioral services for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Each Residential Support service is licensed and monitored by the Department of Developmental Services. Our CLAs are mostly ADA accessible, are all located within local neighborhoods, and offer a variety of recreational activities.

Community Residential Support Service Highlights

Independent Living Skills Training (ISLT) The Kennedy Collective ISLT services provide individuals with one-to-one assistance in acquiring skills needed to live independently – no matter the physical limitations. Skill building includes personal life management, socialization, problem-solving, personal finance management, and household maintenance.
Companion Support Companion Supports help to reinforce the skills taught in Independent Living Skills Training, and play an integral role in connecting disabled individuals with their local communities. Companion Supports do not provide medical care, but do offer mentorship with a therapeutic goal in mind.
Case Management and Service Coordination The Kennedy Collective offers Case Management and Service Coordination with the goal of identifying disability support services needed, developing a clearly outlined plan, and ensuring this plan is successfully carried out over time.
Pre-Vocational Skills Training Pre-Vocational Skills Training assists individuals in developing skills related to employment and job performance. The Kennedy Collective team helps prepare individuals to return to work, by teaching the skills and traits of a good employee – including work compliance, attendance, stamina, problem-solving, time management, and safety.
Transitional Living Services The Kennedy Collective Transitional Living Services help people with disabilities live as independently as they can, through the development of skills specific to household maintenance, personal finance, and hygiene. A hands-on teaching process is utilized – where the in-home skills of an individual are evaluated, so they can be taught about skills that are lacking or require improvement.

15 Connecticut CLAs

The Kennedy Collective has 15 Community Living Arrangements within neighborhoods across Connecticut – including Trumbull, Bridgeport, Milford, Monroe, Stratford, Oxford and Hamden. Each residence houses three to eight individuals. Because these communities are comfortable, fully-functional homes, a number of individuals have lived in our CLAs for more than 30 years.

Residential Supports That Impact The Whole Family

By teaching and encouraging independence in an inclusive environment, individuals with intellectual disabilities are empowered to reach their full potential with the support of a tight-knit community. And, the families of the individuals who participate in this program can gain peace of mind knowing that their loved ones are under the care of experienced and compassionate professionals.
